Executive Committee Meeting Notes

We’re creating an Executive Committee to handle ongoing housekeeping outside our networking meetings. The call to join is officially open.

The Executive Committee’s first meeting will happen next Thursday, May 28th, just after 5pm at Alberto’s on Calhoun.

If you can answer yes to all the questions above, you belong on the Executive Committee. We’re discussing our application to become a YNPN chapter.

Please RSVP to nrc@acpl.info so we can plan ahead. Thank you!

May 15 Meeting Notes

Friday, May 15th we met at the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, hosted by Andy Welfle.

Andy’s topic of choice was our brand, particularly our web presence and the need for a domain of our own.

Paul Spoelhof,  YLNI’s Get on Board Committee Chair spoke about the importance of participating in the Get on Board initiative. He encouraged our group to sign up for the event Wed, May 20th to learn more about Board fit and deciding if Board leadership is right for you. Learn more here.

After introductions, Andy opened the floor to our brand, noting that our web presence would be better under our own domain.

Along the same lines, Hilary Andersen would like to be able to handout NeXtGen business cards to refer people to our site.

Andrew Hoffman questioned the term “Digest” in our name.

Lettie Haver would like to see how the group would grow under other leadership or guidance. Read the rest of this entry »

Fort Wayne Rotaract Launches for Local Young Rotarians

Thanks to newest NeXtGener, Lauren Caggiano for the Press Release! Here’s another exciting opportunity for NeXtGeners to act locally:

A new service club comprised of young professionals is taking shape in Fort Wayne! Rotaract, a service club affiliated with Rotary International, invites young people ages 18 to 30 to join the cause locally.

Mayor Tom Henry, a former Rotarian himself, recently spoke at the Inaugural Rotaract Club Meeting, on May 6. The mayor formally called to order the first official meeting including newly inducted President Jeremy Redding. Mayor Henry went on to discuss the importance of Rotaract and its implications to the local community and why Rotary is important to him and how it has impacted his life.

Rotaract, one of the fastest growing affiliates of Rotary International, boasts over 7300 Rotaract clubs in over 150 Countries, with an active membership of over 170,000 young professionals. The club is designed for young professionals who want to make their community a better place, expand friendships, build leadership skills, and ultimately make a difference in the world.
