As advertised previously, we met at Alberto’s for dinner last night, Thursday, May 28 and discussed filing for YNPN chapter status.
Our meal was remarkable and the conversation awesome. Okay, the food was awesome and the conversation a little more work-related.
We started with addressing any concerns about filing for YNPN chapter status and the first concern was in longevity. Given the nature of our organic, natural beginnings, and the strength of the relationships we’ve forged over the last year, are we going to be able to cultivate the same relationships in a new round of young nonprofit professionals? In short, Yes. We are. Or so we decided last night we will each make a concerted effort to do and believe we have already seen evidence of groundwork laid in this direction. We’re recruiting new people with the same need for support from peers for every meeting.
While the group we have is built on relationships with the people involved in it, the group is not necessarily about the specific people there now.
In other words, the group is about encouraging young nonprofit professionals to make these types of relationships, to provide a forum for this kind of personal development and to teach attendees to be the support they seek.
We’re applying for YNPN status as it gives merit to the work we already do, disentangles us in positive ways from the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center, and provides a strong stand-alone identity. This is us!
Our Executive Committee is:
Hilary Andersen, YWCA
Lettie Haver, PCNRC
Andrew Hoffman, NeighborLink Fort Wayne
Jennifer Renner, CANI
Andy Welfle, Fort Wayne Dance Collective
If you are interested in joining the Executive Committee, make that interest known to the current committee members. You must have a demonstrated interest in supporting NeXtGen by attending, facilitating and/or otherwise contributing to its work in next generation nonprofit networking. If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk!
