Amy will lead us through a conversation on managing volunteers based on her experiences coordinating volunteer lawyers. We expect she’ll have a lot to offer and can also talk to us about her work through the Americorps Vista volunteer program.
NCLC is neighborhood based and continues to add intake sites in distressed neighborhoods in response to community need. In 2009, NCLC officially opened a satellite office at the Community Resource Center for Refugees in Fort Wayne, Indiana, providing legal assistance and education to low income and immigrant families. NCLC intends to replicate all the Indianapolis based programs in Fort Wayne, striving to meet the legal demands of our low income and immigrant Fort Wayne neighbors.
Join us as we retreat to nature in a follow-up to our February NextGen

We’re heading back to the Allen County Public Library for this month’s ThinkTank. This time expect a tour of the library’s facilities, many of which are of free use to nonprofit organizations.
You can also expect to get a sneak preview of the Mentoring Program that we are collaborating on with the Northeast Indiana Nonprofit Alliance (NINA). We’ll have the results from the survey (names withheld) and the concepts for how to best implement a program.
What can you offer? Guidance and feedback on what a mentor would mean to you. We’ve already asked you by survey, but this meeting will allow you the chance to speak conversationally.
You’ll be able to freely comment on the role of mentorship in your life, suggest specific mentors, help troubleshoot the program, and contribute in ways we haven’t even thought up yet.
Of course, you can just come to see what it is all about and how it could help you.

Has the thought crossed your mind lately? You’re not alone.
A quick look at this 2008 report, Ready to Lead, will give you some background on the issue in a broader sense. The partners for the work, CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, The Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Meyer Foundation, and Idealist.org, deliver a tightly written piece that will likely resonate with you.
Check out the graphics: lots of charts and graphs and offset quotes.
Report topics covered include: Student loan debt, development of next generation leaders and job satisfaction.
Join us to discuss practical techniques for keeping your balance between a beginning or growing career and a full time life outside of that.
We’re meeting this Friday from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at CANI, where Jennifer Renner will host our monthly ThinkTank. Our topic this month will be Work/Life Balance.

Put this one on your calendars. On Friday, February 20th, we’re heading to CANI (Community Action of Northeast Indiana), where Development Supervisor Jennifer Renner, will lead us through our second ThinkTank.
The agenda is still in the works, but let it be known: This meeting promises to be different. Jennifer is plotting an exciting array of personal-development activity, and inviting a very special guest . . .
Get out and meet some people. Learn something new. Reinforce your skills. Refresh, unwind and bulk up on the knowledge of who else is working for the common good.
ThinkTank Mode launches: Help Brainstorm the Rape Awareness Program
Rya Morgan, Rape Awareness Program Director for the FWWB will lead our January 16th meeting in ThinkTank Mode. We’ll get an overview of her existing program and then we’ll brainstorm ways to implement community mobilization.
What does that mean?
You’ll have the chance to get out of your silo. Maybe you need a break from what you’ve been concentrating on. Maybe, like statistics suggest, you are infinitely curious about your world, want to see how your acquired knowledge fits, how your missions overlap and how you can help.
This month, we’re taking a break to allow for end of the year finishings at each organization. In January, we return to third Fridays and kick off the new year with a new format.
For the first meeting in 2009, we will take a swing at another first: the ThinkTank. The last meeting left an impression that we hope to apply. We’ve got skills and we aren’t afraid to use ‘em – when asked.
We’ll join Rya at the Women’s Bureau and apply our collective energy and knowledge to the Rape Awareness Program and Rya will allow us to determine the efficacy of ThinkTank mode. Will it work? Read the rest of this entry »
For our November meeting, we are heading to the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana offices to the north of the county. We expect this to be our final meeting of the calendar year, and as such, will do some housekeeping, planning and administrative things. We also expect your input to continue to guide the group in the direction you see needed, so please come prepared to talk about vision and implementing plans. Please bring your thoughts and be prepared to discuss the group’s future.
Please note: Due to scheduling conflicts, this meeting will take place on the third Thursday of November. If you cannot attend, but have input about the group’s direction, you can leave comments here, start a discussion in our google group, or call another member at their agency to have them speak on your behalf. Our first meeting of the fall will follow up on August’s conversation. We’ll examine generational leadership and the roles we can play in our organization’s success. Judging by the fervor of last week’s group, we’re in for another lively discussion!
We’ll also follow up on an opportunity to create a local chapter of an national organization that has similar goals. We’ll need your input to make it work best for Northeast Indiana Nonprofits! Bring your lunches and your expertise~
